Review:

In a voice that enchanted us with its haunting and seductive quality in Salt Rain - Ms. Raman comes back at us with an album whose title track evokes a sixty's type love filled night only available to the few who understand how to exist in an other world plane - filling multiple spaces at once.

The extraordinary quality: to be able to belong anywhere and yet maintain one-worldliness, is what sets this album apart. This is an album meant for the masses in so much that, it is for every one looking for a classical, jazzy, popish, folk experience will come away exhausted, as every track seems to exist over, across and beyond these lines.

With vocals sung in so many languages that it would make a Linguistics Ph. D. jealous - you are treated to a cornucopia of tracks from all over India - with some that lull along monotonously, somehow in a multi-tonal fashion, to some that randomly pick up tempo as if to get their point across faster. Even presented is a beautifully re-sung version of a Bollywood classic - Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai.

So whatever genre of, or mixture there of, South Asian music you are in the mood for - pick this album up - you won't be disappointed. Just don't expect Bhangra!
